Vol. 224 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Water Supply.

10.

asked the Minister for Local Government when his Department will approve of the proposed extensions to Kildorrery water supply, County Cork.

There are no proposals before my Department for extensions to Kildorrery water supply.

Would the Minister state if he has any proposals from the North Cork Committee for either extensions or improvements of the existing water supply at Kildorrery?

The information I have is that there are no proposals for extensions to Kildorrery water supply.

Surely the Minister is aware that there is in his Department at the moment a proposal for an immediate extension of this water supply to two places in particular, one being Ballyanihan and the other Derryvillane in which area people are suffering from a lack of water caused by the sanitary authorities leading a sewer into the river?

We have got that but we do not regard it as an extension. The contract drawings are at present being examined in my Department.

Will the Minister state how long has the application been in the Department?

Kildorrery is what is on the Order Paper. I am not aware on the other two place names were mentioned.

This is an extension of the Kildorrery scheme. Will the Minister state how long has the application been in his Department?

I do not know because I was not asked that question.

Would the Minister say if it is six months?

I have no idea.

Will the Minister expedite it?

Yes, and I should not like the Deputy to think that I have given him wrong information. I was misled by the description.

I accept that. I thought the Minister was trying to put one over.
