Vol. 224 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Outflow of Capital.

6.

asked the Minister for Finance if there is any foundation for the allegation that commercial banks recently established in this country are causing a greater outflow of capital than an inflow; and, if so, what provisions he intends to take to rectify the situation.

There is no foundation for any allegation that commercial banks recently established in this country are causing a greater outflow of capital than an inflow.

External banks established here since mid-1963 accounted for a net inflow of £4.3 million by the end of 1965 and recent indications point to a further increase in this inflow.
