Vol. 224 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ballina Unemployed.

6.

asked the Taoiseach what is the total number of registered unemployed at Ballina labour exchange, County Mayo for the month of September, 1966 and up to the latest date for which figures are available.

The numbers of persons on the Live Register at the Ballina Local Office for each date in September, 1966 for which figures are available are as follows:—2nd September 549; 9th September 542, 16th September 548; 23rd September 554 and 30th September 536. Figures for 7th October are not yet available.

May I inquire from the Parliamentary Secretary whether it is proposed to take any steps to try to provide employment for these people, which has been promised down through the years by the Taoiseach and by Fianna Fáil Governments and nothing has been done about it? These people are still unemployed.

Deputies

There is no reply to that.
