Vol. 224 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Testing of Milk Samples.

10.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he is yet in a position to grant the milk suppliers the right to get a sample of their milk for independent testing, as, requested by the Dairy Farmers' Association.

As I indicated in reply to a Question on this subject from the Deputy on 10th February, whether suppliers can be afforded the facilities referred to is at present a matter for decision by the individual creamery proprietors.

In response to representations from the Dairy Farmers' Association, however, I have agreed to have examined in detail the various matters—including that mentioned by the Deputy— which have been raised by the Association in connection with the sampling and testing of creamery milk. Appropriate action on these matters will be taken where the examination shows that action by me is called for.
