Vol. 224 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Irish Estates Limited.

6.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the extent to which the boards of the Irish Life Assurance Company Limited and Irish Estates Limited were re-organised as a result of the report of the inspectors appointed by the Minister for Industry and Commerce to inquire into the affairs of Irish Estates Limited.

Following on the inspectors' report, four of the directors of each company retired from office in the early months of 1964 and three new directors were appointed.

7.

asked the Minister for Finance what directors and auditors, who were on the board of or employed by Irish Estates Limited during the period covered by the report of the inspectors appointed by the Minister for Industry and Commerce, are still connected in the same capacity with Irish Estates Limited.

Irish Estates Limited was wound up late in 1964 but its wholly owned and controlled subsidiary company Irish Estates (Construction) Limited continues to operate, its name having been changed to Irish Estates (Management) Limited and its ownership and control having been transferred to the Irish Life Assurance Company Limited.

The directors of the management company are its secretary and two officials of the Irish Life Assurance Company, none of whom served as a director of Irish Estates Limited.

Messrs. Griffin, Lynch and Company who were the auditors of Irish Estates Limited from the date of its incorporation continued to hold that position until the company was wound up. They have also been the auditors of Irish Estates (Management) Limited since its incorporation as Irish Estates (Construction) Limited and they continue to hold that position.
