Vol. 224 No. 12

Order of Business.

Business, as set out on the Order Paper, will be taken as follows: No. 10—Votes 47, 50 and 42. Questions will be taken at 2.30 p.m.

On the Order of Business, I gave notice of a question for answer by the Minister for Transport and Power relative to a very serious dispute that exists between the GAA and CIE regarding rail fares charged between Cork and Dublin for very important games. I think I am entitled to some explanation as to why you, a Cheann Comhairle, deemed that not to be in order.

I explained the reasons in my note to the Deputy.

You said, a Cheann Comhairle, that the Minister had no function in the matter.

I cannot allow my decision to be discussed.

This is a very serious dispute.

I cannot allow any further discussion on it.

How come that the Minister has no function in such a serious matter? There is a dispute between the GAA and CIE and the Minister for Transport and Power has no function. Will somebody tell me, a Cheann Comhairle, what function the Minister for Transport and Power has?

The Minister for Agriculture does not seem to have any function——

If the Minister for Transport and Power cannot intervene in matters such as this, then he is a luxury we cannot afford.

Who looks after Telefís Éireann?
