Vol. 224 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tuam Public Works Depot.

14.

asked the Minister for Finance what is the position regarding the lease of the Office of Public Works depot at Galway Road, Tuam, County Galway; and what they intend to do with the building.

The lease of the site of the Office of Public Works depot at Galway Road, Tuam, expired recently and as the present owner is not prepared to grant a renewal, the Commissioners of Public Works are at present considering alternative arrangements for the provision of the facilities they require.

I wonder if the Parliamentary Secretary would let me know if it is the intention to take down what is already there and erect it somewhere else?

It would be normal to assume that any facilities the Office of Public Works have got there which they will require again will be transferred from the existing site to the site which they will provide as an alternative.

That is the longest way of saying yes I ever heard.

Is it the intention not to renew the lease here?

We have sought it without avail.
