Vol. 224 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Corporation Housing List.

18.

Mr. O'Leary

asked the Minister for Local Government whether fresh application forms will be sent out by Dublin Corporation's allocation department to all who previously applied as part of the present re-assessment of the housing list.

19.

Mr. O'Leary

asked the Minister for Local Government whether Dublin Corporation's housing department propose to issue a public statement giving an up-to-date account of the number of applications from persons waiting on municipal housing, indicating the size of family involved, following their present review of the housing list.

I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to take questions Nos. 18 and 19 together.

I understand that the corporation are sending fresh application forms to all persons on their housing waiting list except those who applied very recently, and that a statement will be issued to the press when the results of the present review have been considered by the housing authority.

Mr. O'Leary

Do I gather from the Minister's reply that a full statement will be made by the corporation on the up-to-date position as regards applicants for houses?

It is my understanding from the corporation that a statement will be made. It will be a matter for the corporation to determine.

Mr. O'Leary

Does the Minister realise that there is great confusion at the moment? Many people believe that they, in fact, must apply themselves. What I want to clear up is that the responsibility lies on the corporation and that they will contact the applicants on the list.

This they are doing.
