This Order will be laid on the Table of the House. I suppose it is not very sensational or dramatic——
Would the Deputy like me to explain it ?
Yes, just for the sake of respectability.
The Church of Ireland Training College has been located at Kildare Place for many years and it has turned out to be inadequate. The Church of Ireland authorities have sold the site on which the College now stands. They received a certain amount of money for the site. The new College will cost considerably in excess of £500,000 and the Church of Ireland authorities were unable to raise the balance of the money necessary to build the new College to add to what they got for the site of the old college, without a Government guarantee. The Government agree to give this guarantee and therefore the Church of Ireland authorities are now facilitated in raising the necessary money. The amount involved, as the Order indicates, is £535,000.
A very sensible procedure which sets an excellent example to other countries in regard to protecting minorities and seeing that their rights are amply vindicated.
