asked the Minister for Lands what lands his Department have acquired for afforestation purposes in South Tipperary and West Waterford; and when he expects these lands to be planted.

Forest statistics are not kept on a constituency basis. The total area held by the Forestry Division of my Department in County Tipperary is 46,529 acres of which 42,245 acres are classified as productive. An area of 37,813 acres has been planted and of the balance of 4,432 acres, 1,488 acres are scheduled for planting in the coming season. The corresponding figures for County Waterford are 34,153 acres held, of which 33,383 acres are classified as productive; 30,378 acres have been planted and of the balance of 3,005 acres, 845 acres are scheduled for planting in the coming season.
