Mr. O'Leary

asked the Minister for Labour if the proposed new information officer in his Department will work in consultation with the information sections of employer and employee organisations.

35.

Mr. O'Leary

asked the Minister for Labour whether the new information officer to be appointed in his Department will be available to furnish information to the press on the progress of industrial disputes.

I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 34 and 35 together.

The information officer will carry out the duties assigned to him by direction of the Minister for Labour as appropriate to the position of information officer.

He will be a member of the NUJ, will he?

The conditions are laid down in the advertisement. He will be recruited through the Civil Service Commission.
