Vol. 225 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Four Courts Building Works.

29.

asked the Minister for Justice the cost, extent and purpose of current building works at the rere of the Public Records Office in the Four Courts, Dublin; and when building operations will be completed.

The purpose of the premises is to provide essential additional accommodation for the Land Registry by adding to the rere portion of the Public Record Office two floors totalling in area 21,000 square feet. Each floor will be connected to the existing Land Registry building by a fly-over corridor. The contract calls for completion early in 1968. The currently estimated cost is £224,000.

Can the Minister give an assurance that it will not take as long to find missing documents when the new Land Registry building is completed?

This is a matter in regard to which I have the greatest concern and it will be done expeditiously——

To find lost documents?
