Vol. 225 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Housing Schemes.

66.

asked the Minister for Local Government at what date his Department received a layout and house design for four cottages at Ballygannon, Spa, Tralee; and what is the present position in regard to the erection of these cottages.

A layout plan for these houses was received in my Department on 5th July, 1965, in conjunction with a proposal to acquire a site. The housing authority were advised in November, 1965, that the site was unsuitable and that an alternative site should be sought. I understand that consideration is being given to the acquisition of another site at present.

67.

asked the Minister for Local Government at what date his Department received a proposal from Kerry County Council to erect eight houses at Ardfert, County Kerry; and if so, what is the present position regarding the erection of these houses.

There is no such proposal before my Department at present.

68.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has received from Kerry County Council a request for sanction of a loan of £25,000 to be borrowed from the Commissioners of Public Works for the purpose of financing the erection of 15 cottages; and if he will now sanction the loan.

I have received a request from the council for approval to a loan of £25,500 for the provision of 15 cottages. I hope to be in a position to give a decision on the proposal shortly. In the meantime I understand that work is proceeding on most of these cottages.
