Vol. 225 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - West Cork Electricity Supply.

2.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he is now in a position to state when electric current will be provided in the Fuhir district, Castletownbere, County Cork.

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that Fuhir district is situated in Castletownbere rural area in which post-development work is at present in progress. It is expected that Fuhir district should be recanvassed about March next and, if the results are satisfactory, supply should be extended about the end of next year.

It is important that the maximum number of householders in Fuhir should agree to accept supply during the recanvass; the houses in the district are scattered and the refusal of some householders to take supply could have the effect of increasing substantially the terms to the remaining potential consumers.
