Vol. 226 No. 3

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Secondary School Classes.

17.

asked the Minister for Education whether a limit is or will be applied to the number of pupils in a secondary school class; and, if so, the permissible number of pupils per class.

Mr. O'Malley

According as the necessary accommodation becomes available for the purpose over the next few years, my Department will be laying down a limit of 30 pupils for any class group in a secondary school.

Has the Minister any idea when we shall reach that happy position?

Mr. O'Malley

It is obvious that because the Deputy does not believe in my scheme, he still has no confidence——

I am asking the Minister to show the degree of confidence he has in his own scheme.

Mr. O'Malley

Ask me that and I will endeavour to answer it.

I am asking it.

Mr. O'Malley

I cannot tell you now.
