Vol. 226 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Diplomatic Relations with Portugal.

2.

asked the Minister for External Affairs whether, in view of this country's vote at the General Assembly of the United Nations in favour of the Security Council recommending to member countries of the United Nations that, inter alia, they break off diplomatic relations with Portugal, arrangements to do so by this country are being made.

As the Deputy may be aware, the Security Council has not taken a decision to apply mandatory sanctions against Portugal and therefore the action suggested by the Deputy is not called for at the present time.
