Vol. 226 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Noxious Weeds Act.

27.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he will explain why the Noxious Weeds Act, 1936 has not been enforced more rigidly; and if he will have this matter investigated.

In recent years the number of cases sent for prosecution under the Act has in fact increased as the result of measures taken by my Department in co-operation with the Garda Síochána.

Can the Minister do anything in relation to noxious weeds on open spaces in unfinished estates? I do not know any open spaces in such places where the weeds are not manhigh.

I imagine the law can be put into effect here as in other cases.
