asked the Minister for Finance the estimated loss to the Exchequer if personal medical expenses were a deductible expense for income tax purposes.

It is estimated that the loss to the Exchequer if all expenses arising out of disability or illness were deductible for tax purposes would be of the order of £3 million a year.
