Vol. 226 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cavan Housing.

39.

(Cavan): asked the Minister for Local Government the number of houses (a) commenced and (b) completed in each of the last three years by all local authorities in County Cavan.

The number of houses commenced by all local authorities in County Cavan in each of the last three calendar years was 13, 10 and none, respectively, while the number of houses completed by them in the same period was 2, 21, and 22, respectively.

(Cavan): In view of the concern expressed recently by the Minister in Cavan in regard to houses, is he now prepared to cut the red tape and let the local authorities in Cavan get on with house building?

I will co-operate as far as possible in expediting the problems in Cavan and everywhere else.

(Cavan): I am glad to hear that. Is the Minister aware that for the past few years there has been nothing but obstruction from his Department?

There are no plans awaiting sanction.

(Cavan): Several plans have been sent up, and not returned, and sites turned down.
