Vol. 226 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Army Signals Corps.

28.

asked the Minister for Defence if he contemplates removing the Corps of Signals from the Curragh Camp to Dublin; and if he is aware of the very great hardship on the individuals concerned that would be involved.

I have received no proposal to remove any component of the Signal Corps stationed at the Curragh Camp to Dublin.

Is the Minister aware that the Curragh Camp is rife with rumours that they are to be moved and will he bear in mind the very considerable hardship which would be involved for the 67 personnel employed, 24 of whom are married NCOs, eight are officers and 11 are civilian members? Is he aware that one civilian employee, contrary to the regulations, and from a photograph which I saw with the Minister for Justice, is secretary of the local Fianna Fáil cumann?

Any such proposal——

He was having a meal at Darby House and he was described as secretary.

If any such proposal comes before me, I will inquire into every aspect of it.
