Vol. 226 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drainage of Kerry River.

45.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he will give special consideration to a proposal to drain the River Gueestin which flows into the River Laune through the parishes of Kilcummin, Ballyhar and Listry, County Kerry.

The Commissioners of Public Works could undertake the draining of the River Gueestin only as part of a comprehensive scheme under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945, for the Laune catchment area in which it is situated.

Owing to existing commitments and the extent of the drainage problem throughout the country it will be several years before the Laune can be reached in the drainage programme.
