Vol. 226 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Dock Bridge.

18.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will ensure that a protective barrier will be erected on the parapet of Spencer Dock bridge, Dublin to avoid in the future the danger of children being drowned in the canal.

There are two bridges at Spencer Dock, one in Sheriff Street and the other on the North Wall. The Sheriff Street Bridge is maintained by Dublin Corporation and the bridge on the North Wall by Dublin Port and Docks Board. The provision of protective barriers on the parapets of the two bridges, if required in the interests of safety, would be a matter for Dublin Corporation or Dublin Port and Docks Board as the case may be. I am bringing the Deputy's representations to the notice of both those bodies.
