Vol. 226 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Castleblayney Housing.

22.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that 32 families are waiting for houses in the Castleblayney urban district, County Monaghan, some for over five years; and whether it is intended to provide the urban district council with the resources to make provision for these families at an early date.

I am so aware. A loan has already been sanctioned to cover the cost of acquiring a site to meet present and future housing needs in the urban area. I understand from the council that the acquisition of the site is being finalised at present. An appropriate allocation of capital for building work will be made when approval is being given to the acceptance of a tender for the scheme.
