Vol. 226 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cattle Exports to Italy.

4.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if, in connection with the report in which it was alleged that Irish cattle exported to Italy were flukey, worm infected and lice infested he will state, in view of the enormous damage such published allegations may have on cattle exports, what steps he will take to refute the allegations.

My reply to a Question on this subject on 22nd February refuted the allegations made in the press report referred to and I am satisfied that the reply received sufficient publicity for the purpose.

Does the Minister intend taking any action against the publisher?

I am not sure whether there is any useful action the Minister for Agriculture could take against irresponsible journalism of this sort.

A Deputy

Where did the allegations appear?
