Vol. 226 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Shannon Repair Service Company.

4.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power the number of workers whose employment has been terminated by the Shannon Service Repair Company, Limited; the number of workers at present employed by the company; the steps which have been taken to provide alternative employment for the redundant workers; and whether Aer Lingus proposes to close down this company.

I am informed by Shannon Repair Services Ltd., that they have not terminated the employment of any workers and that 63 are at present employed. Aer Lingus does not propose to close down Shannon Repair Services, but estimate that 29 workers at present with Shannon Repair Services will have to be given alternative employment. The placing of these workers is currently having the attention of Shannon Repair Services in association with Aer Lingus and Shannon Free Airport Development Company Ltd.

Is it true that some of the work is being transferred to Dublin at the present time?

Not as far as I am aware.

That is a separate question.
