Vol. 227 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Loughrea Parking Regulations.

16.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the general dissatisfaction with the recently operated parking regulations in the town of Loughrea, County Galway; and if he will have the matter reconsidered with a view to altering the regulations as may be necessary.

Some representations have been received in my Department regarding the Loughrea Traffic and Parking Bye-Laws, which were made recently by the Commissioner of the Garda Síochána with my consent. Any amendment of the bye-laws is in the first instance a matter for the Commissioner to whose notice these representations have been brought. I understand that he will be prepared to consider any revisions that may appear to be necessary, in the light of local experience, after the bye-laws have been given a reasonable period of trial. I should add that, before the bye-laws were made, the Town Commissioners were consulted and they unanimously approved of them.
