Vol. 227 No. 5

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Exchequer Revenue from Petrol and Oil.

141.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the figure for the year 1965-66 and the estimated figure for 1966-67 of Exchequer revenue from petrol, oil, etc., in the terms of the reply to Question No. 98 of 8th March, 1966.

Estimates of customs and excise revenue from petrol and oil in the current financial year are at present being prepared in connection with the forthcoming Budget and are not yet available. If the Deputy repeats the question after Easter, I expect then to be in a position to furnish figures for 1966-67.

Following is the information requested in respect of the financial year 1965-66:—

Net Receipts in 1965-66

£

Mineral Hydrocarbon Light Oil

20,553,084

Hydrocarbon Oil, Other sorts

3,814,747

NOTES:

(1) Figures of net receipts have been given as account is not kept of Exchequer Receipts under particular heads of Customs and Excise duties.

(2) Separate figures of net receipts from petrol are not available, but more than 99% of the receipts of duty from Mineral Hydrocarbon Light Oil are in respect of petrol.
