Vol. 227 No. 5

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Central Heating in Ballymun Scheme.

45.

asked the Minister for Local Government the cost of central heating in addition to the new basic rent charged for standard flat size in the Ballymun housing scheme, Dublin; and if he will give the cost for each size of flat.

I am informed that the Housing Committee of Dublin Corporation have considered reports prepared by officers of the corporation on this subject, on the basis of which they have decided that the corporation should itself assume responsibility for the operation, maintenance and repair of the district heating and hot water system and that the scale of weekly charges, taking into account amortisation, annual maintenance, power and fuel charges should be 10/10d for a two-roomed flat, 14/10d for a threeroomed flat and 17/3d for a fourroomed flat. The charges fixed by the committee are related to floor areas, height being uniform.

Would the Minister say if the amount now being asked for the central heating of this corporation scheme is in excess of the amount originally put forward by the gas company?

I have no information about that.

Would the Minister let me know?

Yes, I shall look it up.
