asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether any representations have been made to the British Government about the dumping of British buttons on the Irish market; and if, having regard to the damaging consequences to the Irish button manufacturing industry caused by such dumping, he will state what steps will be taken to prevent further dumping.

My Department is at present investigating allegations, recently made, that caseing buttons of British manufacture are being dumped on the Irish market. If these allegations prove to be well-founded, appropriate steps will be taken to deal with the matter.
