Vol. 227 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Balbriggan Houses.

25.

asked the Minister for Local Government if Dublin County Council propose to build houses at Flemington, Balbriggan; and, if so, when.

No proposals have been submitted to my Department by Dublin County Council for the building of houses at Flemington, Balbriggan. I understand from the council that, while they propose to provide further houses in the Balbriggan area, no final decision has yet been made as to where these houses will be built.

Has the Minister any information about the county council owning a site at Flemington?

A site was allocated to them by the Land Commission at Flemington. I understand the county council think this is not the most suitable site and they hope to exchange it for another.

Has the Minister any idea where the other site is?

I have no information on that.

Is the Minister going to give us any idea? My constituents whose interests I share with the Minister are anxious to know if anything will happen to this site. The Minister says the site will be the subject of a change and the people around Balscadden and Bremore are interested in this.

It would be better to await the results of the county council negotiations in the matter. Perhaps Deputy Dunne would pay a visit to the place when he might see it is not entirely suitable.

Is the Minister waitcadde ing for a cumann meeting to announce something?

I am sure our senior colleague would show you around the area and explain why it is not the most suitable.

That is a very morbid suggestion.
