asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state with regard to each year since 1960 the total amount collected in the Road Fund, the amount allocated out of the Road Fund to local authorities, and the amount retained by the central authority.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to circulate it with the Official Report.

NOTE: In the year 1966-67 £1.2 millions of motor licence duty collected in respect of the 25% increase in duty on private cars and cycles imposed under section 17 of the Finance Act 1966 was retained by the Exchequer and was not transferred to the Road Fund.
