Vol. 227 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Speed Limit Convictions.

64.

asked the Minister for Justice the number of convictions in 1966 for exceeding speed limits in Dublin County Borough with a breakdown into the various classes, viz., private cars, motor cycles, buses and lorries.

Figures are not available for Dublin County Borough.

A total of 4,198 persons were convicted for exceeding speed limits in the Dublin Metropolitan Police Area in 1966. That Area includes most of Co. Dublin and part of Co. Wicklow, including Bray. The records do not distinguish between the types of vehicles involved, but the Garda estimate that at least 90 per cent of the prosecutions for exceeding the speed limits relate to private cars.
