Vol. 227 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - American Loans.

22.

asked the Minister for Finance (a) what amount was due under the United States loan agreements on 31st March 1967; (b) what is the amount of the liquid assets represented by balance on American loan counterpart fund on 31st March 1967; and (c) what amount by way of free grant was received under the United States Marshall Aid Plan.

The information requested by the Deputy is as follows:

(a) Amount due at 31st March, 1967 under the United States loan agreements, 108.7 million dollars;

(b) liquid assets in American Loan Counterpart Fund at 31st March, 1967, £36.9 million; and

(c) grant received under United States Marshall Aid 18.2 million dollars.

The Minister has given three figures — two in dollars and one in pounds sterling. Perhaps the Minister would be kind enough to take his junior colleagues aside during the next few weeks and give them a short seminar on the significance of some of these things? He might do it with some of his senior colleagues, too. They badly need it.
