Vol. 227 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Collecting of Social Welfare Benefits.

44.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if free travel will be allowable to many people in rural areas who have to travel a journey of over eight miles to collect disability allowances, unemployment assistance, old age pensions, unemployment benefit, blind pensions, public service pensions and other social welfare allowances.

The proposed arrangements in regard to travel as announced in the recent Budget statement should facilitate old age and blind pensioners who have to travel a distance to collect their pensions.
