Vol. 228 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drainage of County Sligo Rivers.

37.

asked the Minister for Finance if plans are yet complete for the drainage of the Arrow and Owenmore rivers, County Sligo; and when the survey of those rivers started.

A drainage scheme for the Owenmore-Arrow catchment is not yet ready. The engineering survey was begun in July, 1963 and is expected to be completed in 1968.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that some machinery is now being removed from the river Moy? In order to try to save the West, would it not be highly advisable for his Department to move that machinery in for the drainage of the rivers in question?

The Deputy can rest assured that there will be no unnecessary delay in the preparation of and the implementation of a drainage scheme.

We are resting assured for the past 30 years.
