Vol. 228 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Flooding of County Dublin Park.

27.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that, arising from the blockage of existing drains during the division of the Palmer estate in 1965, the club grounds known as St. Maurs Park, Rush, County Dublin are badly flooded during periods of heavy rainfall; and that on a number of occasions GAA fixtures have had to be called off; and if he will take the necessary steps to have this situation rectified.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to a previous question on 27th October last about flooding on this estate. The main difficulty here seems to be that a few of the persons who were allotted divisions of land on the Palmer estate have not so far agreed to co-operate in a drainage scheme under the Land Project. While the Land Commission have no responsibility in this matter I am, nevertheless, asking them to see if anything can be done to secure the co-operation of the parties concerned in a satisfactory scheme to remedy the flooding.

If you had not suppressed Section B of the Land Project you would have no trouble now.

Money would be wasted.

A lot of money was wasted in the Minister's Department.
