Vol. 228 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mayo Primary School.

60.

asked the Minister for Education when a new primary boys' school will be provided for Swinford, County Mayo.

Mr. O'Malley

A site has been offered for a new school building to replace Swinford Boys' national school. A final report in relation to the suitability of the site is being awaited. My Department is also reviewing the accommodation requirements of this school district to ascertain the accommodation to be provided in the new school.

As accordingly, the preliminary arrangements for the erection of the school have not yet been completed, I am unable to say at present when work will commence on the project.

61.

asked the Minister for Education if there are any plans in his Department for the retention of both Collooney and Ballisodare Protestant primary schools in County Sligo; and, if not, which will be retained.

Mr. O'Malley

The question of the erection of a central school to replace these schools and some other national schools under Protestant Management in County Sligo is at present under consideration.

It is not possible to say, at this stage, where the proposed central school will be located.
