Vol. 228 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Telephone Kiosk.

4.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will make arrangements to have a public telephone kiosk provided in Oldtown County Dublin.

A kiosk in this village would not be used sufficiently to justify its provision.

Is that definitely the only yardstick? Surely people in a remote area such as this, where a village is covering a large surrounding area, should be serviced with a telephone?

The same could be said of remote areas throughout the country.

Is that the only yardstick in the Department of Posts and Telegraphs, that it will be either economic or not?

If there is no question of a telephone kiosk being used sufficiently there is not sufficient justification for its provision.

Regardless of need, it will not be provided?

They will not provide anything for North County Dublin.
