The Minister for Finance indicated in his Budget Statement of the 11th April last that the proposed increases in the disabled persons' maintenance allowance scheme and in the infectious diseases maintenance allowance scheme will operate from the 1st August next. Steps are being taken to amend accordingly the statutory regulations governing these allowance schemes. Local health authorities will be given timely notice of the proposed increases.
