Vol. 228 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Warble Fly Eradication.

3.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if it is intended to continue the scheme for the eradication of the warble fly for another season.

As already announced, following a discussion with the National Agricultural Council, it is not proposed to undertake a further national campaign this autumn in view of the very low level of warble infestation now reached. Action will instead be aimed at securing the free treatment next spring of animals showing visible evidence of infestation, and requiring farmers and shippers to produce certificates of treatment of such animals.
