asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware of the continuing complaints by an organisation (details supplied) as to the non-delivery of postal packets addressed to them; when complaints were first made by this organisation; and if he will ensure that steps will be taken to remedy the situation.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Non-Delivery of Postal Packets.
5.
The answer to the first part of the question is yes. Similar complaints have been received intermittently since early in 1960. In 1963 a postman was convicted, among other things, of the theft of a letter addressed to the organisation in question. All the complaints recently received relate to the non-receipt of unregistered letters containing money but it has not been possible, so far, to establish where the losses occurred. The inquiries are continuing.
