Vol. 228 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Free TV and Radio Licences for Pensioners.

7.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will make the necessary provisions to ensure that old age pensioners will not be required to pay for a television and radio licence, and that blind pensioners shall not be required to pay for a radio licence.

The answer to the first part of this question is no. As to the second part, free radio licences are issued to necessitous blind pensioners, provided they satisfy certain conditions, and it is not proposed to extend these arrangements.
