Vol. 228 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Closing of County Cork Firm.

37.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware of the proposed closing of a firm (name supplied) in County Cork, and that the reason advanced by the firm for the decision is that the lease of property has expired and that the landlord, who is an absentee, has sought completely prohibitive terms for the renewal of the lease; and what steps he proposes to take to ensure that this firm will remain operational.

I am aware that this firm have announced their intention of closing down.

The Deputy will appreciate that I am not in a position to ensure that the mill will remain operational if the owners decide to close it down.
