Vol. 228 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Electricity Supply.

7.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he is aware that persons (names supplied) who have built a motel and several bungalows three miles from Ardgroom, County Kerry, have been awaiting ESB supply for a very long time; and if he will have this supply provided as a matter of urgency so that they may start business.

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that the location of the motel is in an isolated pocket within the Board's Castletown-bere rural area some three miles from the nearest point of supply. This locality was not due to be re-canvassed under the post-development scheme until about 18 months from now but because of its tourist interest it was brought forward. The locality has recently been re-canvassed and the results are at present being evaluated by the Board. Supply will be extended about October next to all unconnected householders who accept the terms offered and have their premises wired. I am having inquiries made of the Board to see whether anything can be done to expedite connection in the cases to which he refers and I will communicate with him when the results come to hand.
