Vol. 229 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Road Repairs.

16.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he has received from the Special Employment Schemes Office a request that his Department make a contribution towards the cost of repairing the road leading to the homes of residents of the Curragraigue, Blennerville, Tralee district, County Kerry, which was damaged by machinery used by his Department in carrying out work on the top of the mountain in that district; and if he is aware that an application by the residents on this road to the Special Employment Schemes Office for a rural improvement grant is being held up pending a decision by his Department concerning the giving of such a contribution.

The original inquiry made in regard to this matter does not appear to have reached my Department but I have now advised the Special Employment Schemes Office, in reply to a reminder, that the Post Office will contribute to the cost of improving the road in question.

That is a long time.
