Vol. 229 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Parking of Cattle Lorries.

48.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware of the traffic hazard presented by the indiscriminate overnight parking of cattle lorries in Manor Street and Aughrim Street, Dublin; and whether he proposes to take action in regard to this inconvenience to householders in the area.

The Garda are constantly on the alert to ensure that cattle lorries are not parked overnight in parts of Aughrim Street and Manor Street where parking is prohibited or where parking would create a danger for other traffic.

The Garda have received no complaints from residents in those streets of inconvenience caused by the parking of cattle lorries.

The question of securing suitable alternative night parking facilities for lorries visiting the cattle market has in the past been the subject of consultations between the Garda and Dublin Corporation but no satisfactory solution to the problem has been found.
