Vol. 229 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rural Electrification.

4.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power why seven householders in Chapel Road, Dungloe, County Donegal, cannot get electric light from the ESB; and if he will make representations to ensure that these applicants will receive electric light at reasonable charges in the very near future.

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that the householders concerned reside in the Board's Dungloe rural area which was originally developed under the Rural Electrification Scheme in 1956. Under the planned post-development programme the Board expect to undertake a re-canvass of the Dungloe area in about two years. All unsupplied householders who accept the terms offered can then be connected to the electricity supply.

5.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if there is a possibility of having a supply of electricity made available to the residents of Kilcarroon, Clogheen, County Tipperary, in the near future.

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that Kilcarroon is located in the Board's Burncourt Rural Area which was initially developed under the rural electrification scheme in 1957-58. The area will be re-canvassed under the post-development scheme within the next few months and it is hoped that all unsupplied householders who accept the terms offered and have their premises wired will be connected towards the end of this year.
