Vol. 229 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - River Liffey Bridge.

13.

asked the Minister for Local Government if the proposal of the Professor Myles Wright report to build a bridge across the River Liffey east of Butt Bridge has been examined; and, if so, what is the decision.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to his question of 19th April last on the subject of the Advisory Regional Plan and Final Report for the Dublin Region submitted by Professor Wright. I would like to reiterate that the Report is an advisory one and that there is no commitment to it at this stage.

With regard to the specific issue of building a bridge across the Liffey east of Butt Bridge, the report of Professor Wright endorses the recommendation in the report of the Corporation's traffic consultant to the effect that such a bridge should be constructed. I am informed that the Corporation are at present considering the reports but have not taken any final decision thereon.
