Vol. 229 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Galway Estates.

17.

asked the Minister for Lands the present position regarding the Reilly estate, Russeltown, Milltown, County Galway; if the Land Commission intend to divide this estate shortly; and, if so, when.

Possession of this 22 acre holding has passed to the Land Commission. Pending completion of the necessary inquiries on the ground it is not possible to forecast just now when a scheme of division can be planned. Due to the large number of local smallholders to be considered, the relatively small area of this property is quite insufficient to make an impact and I am aware that the Land Commission are interested in getting more land in the locality.

18.

asked the Minister for Lands the present position regarding the Kenny estate, Cloonagar, Milltown, County Galway; and if the Land Commission have considered the propriety of acquiring this estate as there are many smallholders in this village.

The Land Commission have no current proceedings for the acquisition of this property, situated in the townland of Cloonagarve, but they are having inquiries made generally in the matter.
