Vol. 229 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Limerick Housing.

31.

asked the Minister for Local Government (a) the number of applications for new houses at present with Limerick Corporation; (b) the number of new houses at present in the course of erection; and (c) the number of new houses expected to be available for occupation by 31st December, 1967.

I understand from Limerick Corporation that there are 600 applicants on their approved housing list at present, that 100 dwellings are under construction, that work will be started shortly on 133 dwellings and that work on a further 215 dwellings should be put in hands this year. In addition, the National Building Agency are examining outline proposals which they have received for a special housing project which includes a projected 800 dwellings for Limerick city.

Out of the 448 dwellings excluding this project, on which the corporation expect to have work in progress this year, it is estimated that a further 51 will become available for occupation by 31 December, 1967.
